The brothers of Phi Kappa Tau take just pride in their affinity for making the outside community a better place.  We understand that we have the ability to help and influence people every day.  Phi Kappa Tau devotes a good amount of time towards philanthropy with the help of the fraternity's philanthropy chairs (Nick Audrain '20, Eric Meyer '20, and Chris Raimondo '19).

Here is a list of a few of the events we hold:

Dogs Helping Heroes: In memory of our heros of 9/11/2001, the brothers of Phi Kappa Tau honored the brave by organizing a station in the 15 Year Memoriam Colgate Obstacle Run. This obstacle course was designed to raise money for Dogs Helping Heroes, a non-profit organization committed to helping veterans and emergency first responders by providing trained rescue dogs. Both mentally and physically wounded veterans can be assisted by these trained dogs. Each dog is matched with a hero, and works to comfort both the hero and the families of those who lost loved ones on that tragic day.

Oktauberfest: In the early fall, The Brothers of Phi Kappa Tau utilized the clever play on words to host an Oktoberfest themed social event, in order to raise money, awareness, and support for the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. This non-profit foundation has been on the forefront of research in Chron’s disease and Colitis, and aims to improve the quality of life those affected by IBS. The brothers raised money by selling the soon-to-be iconic Oktauberfest T-shirts, both before, and during the event. Over $1000 were raised in support of this foundation. It is in our hopes that by increasing awareness of these diseases and furthering research support, children and adults impacted by this disease will one day have a cure.

Toy Drive for Impoverished Children: In mid-December, the Brothers of Phi Kappa Tau organized a toy drive for impoverished children. Toys were donated throughout the week, leading up to our annual Holiday social event, in which over 300 toys were collected, and donated to the Morrisville Holiday Project. This project collects new toys, sporting equipment, gloves, and ski hats, as well as used winter coats and boots, that are then distributed to those less fortune in the local Upstate New York area. The brothers of Phi Kappa Tau took trips to local toy stores and chose gifts they believed would elevate holiday spirit for these special children.

Haiti Food Drive: After the devastating Hurricane Matthew that killed thousands of Haitians, and left millions in need of support, the Brothers of Phi Kappa Tau took action. Boxes labeled “Food Drive for Haiti” were placed in residence halls Curtis, Drake, West Hall, East Hall, Bryant, and the Phi Kappa Tau house. Donations were to be donated to Haiti relief.
